Alpine Desert Near, Skardu, Karakoram, Pakistan

Thank you very much for your nice comments and vote to my image. This is not a lake bed, but an alpine desert. Reaching at Skardu, the most immediate impression is that of disorientation. The valley and rock and the desert plains have no likeness to any other landscape, as if the Sahara had been dropped down between massive walls of rock. Basically Baltistan is an alpine desert, perhaps the most forbidding, fearful and beautiful landscape anywhere on earth.
