Approaching the ice runnels...

Approaching the ice runnels section that is the transition area between the 1st (Hidden) and 2nd Couloirs. There is a good belay on the left side of the rock at the center of the photo (crack behind a detached flake that can eat mid-size cams and/or be slung like a horn). The most oft-taken route goes left of the dark rock at top-center (there is a good cam crack on the left side of this rock for a possible belay). The black spot up and left of the dark rock is the follower of the twosome ahead of us. He is at the crux pitch (WI 3). Above that crux, the 2nd Couloir starts. Photo taken April 26, 2003.
