The approach to the "mouth"...

The approach to the "mouth" of the Hidden Couloir by way of the steep snow fan at its base. To access the couloir, to the left of the rock above the climber was a steep traverse above a rocky drop off (not fatal, but certainly injurious), while to the right of the rock was a fun little WI 2 step of about 10 feet. We took the latter--unroped. It was no big deal and certainly a nice warm up for what's to come. Photo taken April 26, 2003.
