Gangolf, thanks for laying the groundwork for this incredible gem of a range! This range is special for it's rich history and incredible faces. It's a real treasure so close to Germany.
Really good to see such a great International Collaboration idea: epitomises SP. Must be mouthwatering photos for you climbers: but not too good for a poor hiker's vertigo!
I am currently reading his book, Your page puts a picture to so many of his climbs. What a beautiful area and awesome peaks. You have one of the most informative and complete pages on this site in my humble opinion.
Funny - I suggested posting this page to Charles and Michael right after I finished reading "The White Spider". Harrer practiced in Wilder Kaiser for the FA ofg the Eiger north face.
And just to increase this comments drift - a new book celebrating Diemberger´s 80th is coming out.... a must have! Him and Buhl only people to do two 8000er first ascents....
Here is some nice trivia: I've gone on a couple of skiing trips with "Wolfi" (Wolfgang Stefan), Kurt Diemberger's main partner over the years. He is 80 years old and gets out almost every day in the winter. Amazing guy!
