Eighty five minutes up following a pair of ladies who drove a truck to the TH with Arkansas plates. Excellent trail and the view over the lake was easily the best in the park from what I experienced. Nice rock cairns on top too.
Did this one on my drive day back home after a long week of peakbagging in Montana and Wyoming. I had done Windy Peak earlier in the day but still had plenty of time to do this one on my drive though Yellowstone NP. Great hike on a very nice trail.
Hiked many times since 1986. In July I take my spotting scope to the top and look over the basins to the north, west and east. I have seen several grizzlies in the basins in the middle of the day.
Hiked up with good friends visiting Yellowstone. Perfect weather.
Fun day and an easy walk after Hoyt Peak. Wildflowers galore. Trip Report
Solo. Traversed over to Hoyt Peak, too. Great day.
Climbed with Hoyt. Met some Canadians on top who, once again, proved that Canadians are the nicest people ever.
Solo hike on trail. The views are spectacular for such little effort.
A fun hike with great views. Saw a grizzly near the trailhead.
Beautiful views of Yellowstone!
Hiked to the summit behind my twin daughters (age 11). A great hike and a great day. Memorable experience for all.
Nice climb despite the wildfire haze from the summit. Very steep and direct.
Great views, although a little smokey...can't wait to hike it again on a clear day...
The route description makes it sound steep and heinous but it turned out to be a pleasant hike. Some recent storms had put out all the wildfires so we had superb views.
I was up in an 1 1/2 hours on what I would call just a good steady pace and the whole route was done in 2:20 with a little light jog on the way down. All the fires made the view foggy but still beautiful. The description I had said to be careful on the "ridge" up to the summit. This was funny because that ridge is like 20 feet across and than sloping at that on the edges. There were only 4 or 5 people on the hill when I was there.
nice routefinding fun in a little fresh snow. Dust on crust in the morning ascent, which unfortunately turned to glop on top by descent time.
We've done avalanche multiple times, at all different times in the season, and in both the light and dark. Its one of the easiest big summits to reach inside of the park. A lot of great views, and a lot of great practice for the mountains across the street.
My first summit - truly memorable given that a significant portion of the trail was lost in the snow and I had to scramble up a steep scree.
Steep trail and great view from the top.
Climbed with my wife on our way out of Yellowstone. Incredible 360 degree views were some of the best I have had on any summit. We could see all the way to the Tetons and beyond on a really clear day.
