Liked the little hike up to Hoye-Crest. Very peaceful.
Memorial Day roadtrip ... mission was to check off 3 highpoints ... PA, MD, and WV.
I was the 2nd person of the day to sign the register. Trail is very easy to find, thanks to the efforts of the Highpointers club folks.
2nd of three this day. (with PA and WV). It was nice to get out and work up a sweat with a fast pace after driving for a while. Not much in the way of views, except a window to the south. The drive down though, from PA, was beautiful this time of year. Must have passed up 20 or so photo opps. Stopped and took a few, but had to get down to WV before dark.
Brian set the KOM on Strava for the run up
Ditto previous post - a bit of bushwacking at the end. Nice day with great views.
Short little thing. Took a minute to find the trail, which is mostly a logging trail with HP's spray painted on trees. Nice views up high!
The guide books drawings of the route is disproportionate. The alternative leg towards the state marker 3 is a tiny short thing and it comes right before the summit.
Climbed this one after doing Mt. Davis earlier in the day. The approaches couldn't be more different: Mt. Davis was flat as a pancake, but this one was uphill all the way. Nice views from the summit--I'm glad I made it up here before the leaves came out.
Jogged up through the snow while wife and kid explored the tiny church nearby
Really beautiful day for walking through the woods. State HP #28
Another life-long Maryland resident and hiker who had never been here before; short strenuous hike on a gorgeous fall day! Pretty sure we were the only hikers to sign the High Point log today...Might be fun to try this one again in the snow!
My boyfriend and I were in the area, so we decided to climb it. We had a nice hike up to the summit and met another highpointer along the way. This was my 7th highpoint and my boyfriend's 3rd.
Only people to hike it in the winter according to the summit log. We had to bare boot through a foot of mostly consolidated snow.
Hiked to top with Kate, and had the entire place to ourselves. Great hike, and nice marker at the top.
Third highpoint of XC drive from CA to ME. Nice walk through snow/ice encrusted trees to the summit.
A fun hike off the beaten path and had the top to ourselves to watch some rain clouds roll in. Made for a great experience on a great high point!
Another one where I could not find the benchmark.
The day had gotten sunnier by this point and the hike was short and fun. I did not see a soul on the trail. Loved the views from on top. Nicely developed area at the highpoint.
On my way from Mt. Davis, on way to Spruce Knob...
Did the semi-illegal way by driving up to the crest, parked, and hiked about .2 miles to the top. Nice views. Drive through WV was very nice afterwards. Definitely take the time to check out the church near the TH.
Freak snowstorm came in the previous day, so the dirt road from 219 was surprisingly muddy and had a couple big ditches. Walked from 219 to summit, 4.1 km total.
