Highest point

The trail officially ends well short of the highest point which is located just inside the fence of the highest communications tower. I managed to go in and "touch" the highest spot once when the gate was left open. I don't recommend trying to climb over the fence.

Re: Highest point

That might be true, but the USGS survey marker is located southeast of the summit just outside of the fenced area. That should be good enough for most peakbaggers, for this situation.

Re: Highest point

Another BM, a witness benchmark is located further down the hill but the local peakbaggers count touching the fence on the highest hillock which is located about three hundred feet to the west to be the defining spot since the USGS BM is about twenty feet lower. I personally wouldn't argue the point but since it is relatively easy to actually get to within just a few feet from the highest spot, why not go to it.

Badger Mt.

Badger Mountain is a great little climb right here in our own backyard. i've found it useful for training with a pack and a good lung buster of a run. i've always wanted to climb Rattle Snake Mountain as well and as busy as the Badger Mountain trail is, it would sure be nice to be able to access Rattle Snake Mountain by trail as well. i've no idea what it would take to get a trail up Rattle Snake, but we should deffinatly push for it.

Re: Badger Mt.

I agree with your Rattlesnake Mountain thoughts. Unfortunately, as a person who has been on that particular peak a couple of times, I do not foresee any official trails being constructed there in the future... at least not to its summit.
