A quick, easy hike to almost 12,000'. Combined this with going over to the nearby Wasatch County high point to bag my 7th Utah county high point.
Hiked peak, and fished in the Uinta lakes.
Hiked up with the family and dogs, then caught some brook trout in one of the fabulous Mirror Lakes afterwards.
Took the NW Ridge after climbing Reids Peak, then descended via the standard trail. The NW Ridge is a steep boulder-hop but taking that and the trail down makes a nice loop. The trail misses the best part of a Uintas hike -- passing small lakes and ponds along the way.
This was such a pretty hike. My son made it to the top, no complaints!!
Nice but short scramble on halfway decent rock. Saw some mountain goats on the way up, which was a first for me!
I've climbed this several times, the last time with my kids. Pretty easy hike for kids, and the views are amazing. Good activity if your camping and need about 3 hours to kill.
A great little hike. Amazing views. I backpacked in to Ruth Lake and spent the night there with my family. Bald Mountain made for the perfect hike on our way home. We saw a mother and baby mountain goat too.
It was a lovely climb and a fabulous view for such little effort.
Quick jaunt up, then a run down with my wifey. We did it in an hour round trip.
Climbed with my pup! Her first peak!
Fathers Day hike with my kids. Other than the very high winds it was a perfect day. Loved the 360 degree views.
This was my first Utah peak. I did some splits on this peak and also had a nap. The elevation was tough for my then sea-level self. Clearly, I was hooked because a year later and I'm living here.
Climbed with RB, AKB (9), and Spud, the dog. Great fall day and just after moving back to the West after a little over a year at lower altitudes, so especially enjoyed hiking to a high peak again.
This peak is popular for Utah birders because it is a reliable place for Black Rosy Finches. An great hike for non-birders as well!
Climbed up fairly quickly. From the top it looked like a scene from LOTR! Lots of clouds made the view really cool. Hailed on us on the way down, though.
Hiked a few times when I was young (I event got the whole of my young family to the top). This was the first time though as an old man. I saw six mountain goats and was awed by how white their coats were.
This is one of, if not the best peak to climb if you have kids with you. Ours are age 5 to 11, they all made it and loved it. Big reward with little effort!
Enjoyed this nice climb with Andy for recovery the day after Kings Peak. The trail was still drifted over and impassible about half way up. There was an easy detour herd path cutting right first traversing and then upslope that avoided nearly all of the snow. The snowfield kept 90% of the lower trail traffic from reaching the summit. Got some great close up photos of the mountain goats!
Ammon Hatch and I spent August 13th camping in the Uintas so we could observe the Perseid meteor shower, and we summited Bald Mountain the next day. This was a great weekend getaway.
