Bergen  Sucess!

Not the best hike in the world, but good for acclimatization. Views aren’t anything to write home over.

Fantastic Afternoon  Sucess!

Did the full Bergen loop trail system as a Trail Run. 14'ish miles. Had a blast getting to the Summit through the snow! What a gem of a trail system!

Bergen Peak Trail  Sucess!

Sleepy S/Elk Ridge/Meadow View/Bergen Peak out and back. CMC hike in preparation for our trip to Mounts Ararat and Musala in August. There were 9 of us. The weather was great: mostly sunny all day, and warm. The upper Bergen Peak trail still had some mud & snow from last weekend's storm. The park was busy: lots of hikers, runners, dogs and bikers. We saw a miniature pony pulling a wagon on the Sleepy S on the way back. This was my 3rd time on Bergen, but this was the 1st time I actually went to the summit sign, the other two times I just stopped at the radio tower.

Loop  Sucess!

My wife and I woke early with plans of a lofty ascent. High winds in the IPW helped us decide to stay lower. We made a nice loop with another friend and enjoyed a warm hike with little snow on the trail.

Saw a runner do two laps on this loop by the time we finished the round trip. Competing with many mountian bikes.

Impulse buy  Sucess!

After riding 18 miles round trip to Golden and back on our bikes my wife and I decided to hike up Bergen. Had wanted to bag it for awhile, but since the hike is 9+ miles round trip I never had the opportunity...until the kids were out of town visiting the grandparents. The hike down seemed longer than the hike up.

Autumn Snow  Sucess!

Finally I climbed to the summit of this easily accessible JeffCo peak after a small early autumn snow. Fantastic views of the Evans Batholith from the top

easy, crowded hike  Sucess!

I've been up this a couple of times. It's a nice hike, but due to crowds not a real mountaineering adventure. It's more like a long dog-walking hike. Saw a couple of elk in the meadow near the parking lot.

From Lewis Ridge Rd. parking area  Sucess!

A pleasant spring walk with my friend Martha. We misread the map in our haste to get moving, and thought it was going to be about 7 miles R/T. Turned out to be more like 10. Not that it mattered much. I love the open space trails in this part of the foothills!
