Blue Bottle Fly on Willow Catkin

Blue Bottle Fly (Calliphora vomitoria) on the catkin of Swamp Willow (Salix myrtilloides ). This large fly from the Family Calliphridae has a shiny metallic blue body with rows of bristles along each side. Its eyes are red and the wings are clear.
