break on the goat trail to Redgap Pass

It is almost impossible to discern from this photo, but take note of the large spire at upper left. Immediately right of the spire, a deep notch is visible. A spectacular goat trail angles downward from this notch and leads to the broad saddle where our group chose to rest. The route continues out-of-frame to the right to nearby Redgap Pass. The snowy peak in the background is Mount Merritt with Old Sun Glacier. August 22, 2013
