Buckhorn Cholla Bloom

The blossom of Buckhorn Cholla Cactus (Opuntia acanthocarpa) photographed in Pine Creek area of Red Rocks, Nevada. June 2008. Buckhorn Chollas are abundant in Red Rocks. They grow tree-like or shrubby and can reach height up to 6 feet (2 meters).

Thank you. Yes, these flowers do get one's attention ;) Chollas are the last cacti to bloom in Red Rocks before summertime. Cheers!

unreal Anya...

pretty sure I have never seen one this nice....Chollas seem to be the last to bloom....afraid I am missing them at full bloom....thanks for sharing...sweet
