Wildflowers?

Anya, what have the wildflowers in Red Rock been like this year?

When I was in Joshua Tree last month, the only thing blooming were joshua trees and mesquite. There were a few flowers blooming in Death Valley, but not many. If I had more time, I would have gone to Red Rocks.

Anyway, your slide shows are great!

Re: Wildflowers?

Hi Lisa,

So far there are very few wildflowers in Red Rocks this spring (2007). This may change, if we get some rain. It has been very dry. There are a few marigolds, globe mallow, amsonias and daisies blooming, but it is not as a spectacular show as in the previous years.
As for the other plants, the trees have the most showy blooms right now and some cacti (like beavertail and claret cup) are beginning to have flowers. Chollas should be in bloom by the beginning of May. Also, some yuccas still have blooms and Joshua trees were blooming a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for viewing my slideshows. I'm glad you liked them :)
Cheers, Anya
