and deadly if not careful

We were at the base camp when the local soldiers recovered the body of an Austrian Climber. He fell 200 meters from the head twd the left as you look at the picture.

Re: and deadly if not careful

Yeah I think so. The body was recovered on 24th August and had been there 2 days by that time. He was with a Peruvian guide who was unharmed. All this info is third hand via another guide at the campsite.

Re: and deadly if not careful

Thanks.
My Austrian climbing partner perished on that mountain that day. I was not in Bolivia, and the accident is still too little time back to ask the people involved (I know his partner on the tour well, Austrian too.) too many things. The funeral was not the place to do so.

I thought you might know more details. I will learn soon enough though when some time has passed.

Cheers,
T.A.

Re: and deadly if not careful

So sorry, both for you and anyone else left behind.
I hope my post didn't sound morbid or like I was trying to sensationalise what happened and unfortunately I don't know anymore than I've already said.
I hope you find the answers your looking for.
