Just outside the Killarney National Park there's the Macgillycuddy's Reeks, with Carrauntoohill being the highest hill in Ireland with 1039 meters. We climbed the Caher, 1001 meters with excellent views over the MacGillycuddy's. Very windy conditions made the ascent a bit tricky, an ice axe would have been good to bring as we needed hands and feet when the wind tested our balancing skills.
