2nd of three  Sucess!

I think it took me two hours to get here from the parking lot on a windy, cool day. Lots of people so there were some log-jams at the ladders.

Slippery, cold day!  Sucess!

Hiked via the Profile Trail. Mostly uneventful. The last third had some pretty ice. The wind made the trees creek in the wind. It was pretty!

Calloway Peak  Sucess!

Hiked up Profile Trail and camped up on the ridge. The next morning we up to Calloway Peak, then out to MacRae Peak before heading back down Profile Trail. There are a few overlooks on Calloway Peak with good views, but although McRae and Attic Window are lower, the rocky cliffs make for much better scenery.

Fun ridge hike  Sucess!

Hiked up the Profile Trail, then to Calloway summit, then followed the ridge to the visitors center just before the Swinging Bridge, then returned. A nice scramble to Attic Window and McRae Peak on the Grandfather Trail, 10.3 mi., 5 1/2 hr. RT.

Calloway Peak via Grandfather Trail  Sucess!

This was my second hike to Calloway Peak. This will likely always be one of my favorite climbs. Filled with steep ascents with wire railing to help you up and more than 50ft worth of ladders, this is always a good one to hike.

Daniel Boone Scout Trail Over Nighter  Sucess!

Completed Daniel Boone Scout Trail to summit Calloway Peak. My self , 40 lbs of gear , and wife with 20 lbs. Had a wonderful lunch on the peak. However due to time constraints (daylight) , possible weather and water supply issue we had to abandon the complete thru hike to the "swinging bridge". Perhaps another time.

From the Parkway  Sucess!

A great hike, starting from the Parkway near MM 300. We went up the Nuwati Trail and descended the Cragway. Excellent hike! Highly recommended. Although I would recommend ascending the Cragway and descending the Nuwati as the scenery is better on the Cragway!

From Attic Window Peak  Sucess!

After all the shutes and ladders I finally arrived on the first summit of Calloway. Since I wanted to be sure I had ascended the highest point I went over to the second summit but was delayed by some owner's pets. Their dogs did not want me on top with them. But finally their owners tugged and pulled them away with no apologies notwithstanding.

Grandfather Trail  Sucess!

This was the last summit of the day along the Grandfather Trail before heading back to the car at the Black Rock trailhead. Great view and incredible hike. Even though this peak is the highest on Grandfather Mountain it was, to me, overshadowed by the rockier McRae Peak and Window Attic Peak. I wish there weren't any ladders.

Just barely made it to Calloway before running back to the car because of lightning. I never knew I could sweat thatmuch that far above sea level.
