Beautiful day on a beautiful peak  Sucess!

Out and back hike from Trail Canyon. Long day but views along the trail and on the peak makes this hike memorable.

Windy & Chilly day  Sucess!

Went up the North Loop Trail, summitted in 3 hours 3 minutes, then headed down the south loop back to the car. 17.5 miles total w/ 5,600’ of climb. What a cool mountain so close to Vegas. Was absolutely heart broken to see the charred forest on the south loop trail. That mountain would have look totally different 5 years ago.

Up and down  Sucess!

Did the full loop starting from the north. A few parts were covered with some snow, most of them easy to get through. The summit was mostly barren. Ended up getting to the top about 10 seconds before someone from the south loop got there. Probably another 15 people were heading up from that side, no idea if anyone was behind me.

The sun sets early this late in the season so it's good to start as early as possible

Long Slog  Sucess!

It was a hike I had to do. I divided into three parts.

1) Saddle of Mount Griffith
2) The Flat burnt Bristlecone Forest
3) The actual fun part

Part one and three were amazing and we got some weather action on the summit. Will I even do it again? No, but will definitely hit Griffith Peak some day.

via Lee Canyon Ski Area  Sucess!

With Brent. Fun outing. Approaching from Lee Canyon sure beats the round-about lengthy trail. We had perfect weather, though it was a little hazy which subdued the views a little. NV county highpoint #6!

First of an attempted triple.  Sucess!

Did the US Bank stair race on Friday, drove to the trailhead Saturday, woke up and tagged it. Weather was ideal, pack was perfect, few people on the trail and thought my route was shorter than it was. Easy but long. GO!!!

With Griffith via South Loop  Sucess!

A big front moved in that evening, so I counted my lucky stars that it was a blue-sky day. Incredible views to Whitney, 145 miles away!

The long approach sure makes one feel the altitude near the summit... made it a leisurely 11.5 hours roundtrip.

From Trail Canyon  Sucess!

and back the same way, w/ Maddie. It was a beast of a day, but the weather was nice and the view was clear. I'll never forget the slow moving, step at a time switchbacks toward the top of the southeast face. Great trail work!

Spring Mountain Tour  Sucess!

Summited today as part of a 30-mile trail run tour of the Spring mountains. Super windy and very cold up the South loop near the Summit. No Snow or Ice. Really had perfect conditions all day (summit chill not withstanding). What a great mountain range. I need to get back and explore some more!

Boom  Sucess!

Thunderstorms predicted at 20% after eleven. So at 11:01 the booming started, then the rain, then the hail. Surprising, but I had the mountain to myself for a change.

North loop trail  Sucess!

Took five hours and five minutes up and one hour less than that down. The weather was iffy and snow squalls and cold rain hit just after I got back to the tree line, making much of the 10.3 mile descent back to the car seem longer than the ascent. This was a very well set up trail however and whoever planned it out was a genius.

Trail Canyon/North Loop Trail  Sucess!

#1 10-7-16 Solo. Beautiful cool fall day. Almost no wind on top. Had the summit and all of the paraphernalia to myself. The artistry of the bristlecone trees is fabulous. Inadvertently left a Nalgene on top but a couple heading up said they would make good use of it, so that's the main thing! I camped near the Trail Canyon TH and it worked out fine. Shortly after leaving the TH at 6:30 a small herd of deer appeared suddenly along the trail and seemed not to worry about me hiking past them.

North Loop Trail Run  Sucess!

Ran/speed hiked the North Loop route from Trail Canyon, roundtrip was 16.4 miles and 5,000 vertical. Total time was 3:29. This is an INCREDIBLE trail, so beautiful. I was blown away. Had the summit to myself.
