Route Climbed: Lake Trail and by Car Date Climbed: All of the 90's
Spent most of my high school and college years hiking, climbing and rappelling on Cheaha. Spent one of the coldest nights of my life camping there in a storm. War Eagle!
Route Climbed: Lake Chinnabee via the Silent trail & Pinhoti Trail Date Climbed: February 23, 2000
A large party of us hiked this gruelling death march from the base of Mt Cheaha.
The weather was cold and damp/drizzly. The trails for the most part were good but this is an extremely difficult hike. Just because this mountain is at the southern terminous of the Appalachian Mts. in Alabama does not make it easy if you choose this route.
Route Climbed: drive-up summit Date Climbed: Feb 19, 2005
Beautiful day for a summit! TV/radio/cell boadcast antenna tower kind of spoils the vista.
About 1.5 hour drive from Atlanta. Toughest part of the summit was finding a gas station on I-20 as we passed into Alabama. Almost had to start walking!
