Cima de Jazzi (3803m) from Torre di Castelfranco

There is a dramatic difference between the routes to these peaks from the Swiss and Italian sides. From Switzerland, on the left, these peaks are all easy glacier walks. In stark contrast, from Italy almost all routes up there are long; mostly rock, some mixed: These peaks are all on the crest of the huge Monte Rosa east face. The only easy route up there is to the Neues Weisstor (3499m), the saddle north side of Cima di Jazzi; not visible in this photo since we're on the south side. And even that route has a few rock passages up to UIAA grade III. 1 July 2013.
