Common Hazel

Common Hazel

I took this picture near Black Creek on July 8 , 2007. Common Hazel (Corylus avellana) is very common in the Low Beskid. Its leaves are simple and rounded. The seeds are nuts 1–2.5 cm long and 1–2 cm diameter, surrounded by a husk which partly to fully encloses the nut. As the seeds ripen their color will turn brown.
