Conrad Kain hut 1984 in the Bugaboos

A bunch of strangers who all just met at the hut pose for a pic during a late July snow shower. Notice the honkin big leather boots everyone wore back then.Plastic boots were just coming out around then.I got my first pair in 1985 after giving up on leather boots for extended trips in the glacial alpine. No matter how I tried to waterproof them they always got wet after about 5 days and then stayed wet.I still prefer lighter leather boots for everything else though.
