Re: Crazy Quilt Mountain ?YUP - he's having a guidebook published. It was discovered that most of the lesser 'bumps' and 'buttes' in this part of Zion were yet unnamed, so some of them are being GIVEN names for geographical reasons that I could never completely understand but still appreciate.
For example, there's a 'pointy' peak near Lake Mead called Sentinel Peak or Rainbow Peak. Very common names for this area! WHY not start using more original names, like Turkey Vulture Peak or Crazy Quilt Mountain?

Re: Crazy Quilt Mountain ?For clarification, I just self-published a guidebook covering peakbagging in the Las Vegas area. I'm also working on a Zion National Park guidebook, but that won't likely be out for some time.
As for the naming, let the record reflect that I didn't name Crazy Quilt. I'm not sure where it got its name, but the park even recognizes it on their official literature. Great stuff.
I believe Ed Forkos named Sentinal Peak. Harlan would know.

Re: Crazy Quilt Mountain ?Will your books be available on Amazon or any other online source? One of my brothers who just moved to Vegas is definitely interested in climbing and peakbagging out there, and I'd probably be interested in the Zion guide, especially if I return there next summer as I hope to do.

Re: Crazy Quilt Mountain ?Thanks for the info, Courtney! When I write a comment, I like to think of it as a piece of raw meat. If anybody actually responds to it, then I have accomplished my unique way of obtaining information.
Looking forward ... to both books! - Larry
