Up by the new via ferrata, down the normal route
The weather forecast had said that the day would start out fine, with the possibility of a bit of rain and perhaps even some thunderstorm by the end of the day. But since I had spent the night at the Düsseldorfer Hütte, I didn't have to go all that far and I got to the summit in just a couple of hours, and I saw no signs of bad weather approaching just yet.

Tschenglser Hochwand
I spent three wonderful days in August 1991 at the Düsseldorfer Hütte. On the 8th of August, I first went up the Hinteres Schöneck (3128m) early in the morning, then the Tschenglser Hochwand, which was fantastic, and that same afternoon I still climbed the neighboring peak, the Schafberg (3306m). What a day that was! Next day I went as far as the Angelusscharte (I didn't have enough energy left for the Hoher Angelus), which was also a marvellous experience!

New Via Ferrata
From Sulden (1860 m ASL) up on the new via ferrata, and back on the normal way
Route Climbed: normal from sulden Date Climbed: july 2003
I climbed Tschenglser Hoghwand during a holyday in Ortler alps together with my father. On the ridge I continued alone to the summit as my father became suddenly ill. Nice views from the summit on the big ones of the Ortler gruppe and on Grosse Angelus and Vertainspitze. Day started sunny but on the summit more and more clouds appeared as ussual.
Route Climbed: Erich-Otto ferrata Date Climbed: July 20th 1991
Martin and I drove to the Vinschgau valley the evening before - and slept at a new cemetery (that had not been opended) because of a rain shower. An early start next morning brought us in an 90 min walk (without using the cablecar) to Duesseldorfer hut. We climbed Tschenglser Hochwand in 1 h 45' via the ferrata. Many clouds limited the summit panorama. In spite of a long rest we were back at the hut early in the afternoon. Weather improved so we climbed the "house summit" of Hinteres Schoeneck (3143m) in addition.
Route Climbed: ascent Ericht-Otto way, descent new via ferrata Date Climbed: July 9th, 2004
A lovely weather in the morning, but when I reached the summit at about 1 p.m. there were more and more clouds. After a really quick descent on the new via ferrata I had strong rain on the way to the hut nad lift station. And in Sulden again the sun.
