What about the east face?

Great start.

But what about the rock climbing routes?

East Face is one of the great climbs in this cirque... Grade IV, 5.10 goung almost directly to the summit of the needle.

Brutus, been there, done that.

Re: What about the east face?

While there are many great routes in the general vicintity of Whitney, i personally have little knowledge of them, therefore, I decided to omit such speculative writing from the page until i can acquire more information. Thank you for your feedback though!

AKA "Hulda Crooks Peak"

There was an attempt a few years back (successful?) to rename this peak to "Hulda Crooks Peak" in honor of Hulda Crooks, who climbed Mount Whitney many times. Unfortunately, she passed in 1997. Here is a page of interest:

Hulda Crooks 1896 - 1997

Crooks Peak, not Day Needle

Actually, the name was changed to Crooks Peak in 1990. It's in the USGS database.
