Looks...

...a very interesting hike, with great views of the Julians. I've been many times in that area but I've never climbed summits of this group.
Very good page ( as always ).
Ciao!

Re: Looks...

Thanks, Fbrizio!
Yes, it was a nice hike. I planned it for an earlier time, say in June, when higher mountains are still snow covered. But it turned out fine. Good company, nice views, a lot of flowers, ...
Ciao!

Great page

I climbed nearly all peaks in this formidable range, however, never connecting them into one tour, probably due to logistic difficulties. So, I enjoyed very much your excellent description and brillant photos. My congratulations, Vid, and thanks for posting.
Cheers, Andrej

info on ridge crossing

This weekend we will probably be going on an explorative hike, maybe starting from Kobarid, to see the conditions and try to assess what conditions we might find if we try the winter traverse.
I'm wondering, Brinica seems like the most complex area of the ridge. Are these difficulties just a few passagges, or are they sustained along all the Brinica ridge?
From your photos, it looks like the bivouac is on a narrow ridge. How narrow would that be? It would be nice to know in advance.
Thank you,
Gabriele

Re: info on ridge crossing

Sorry for not seeing this post before, Gabriele! That's how it happens with this kind of contacts. I was in Brussels from Thursday & Friday and then had two easy hikes on Saturday and Sunday, neglecting SP at all. I hope your first check of the righe was OK, but the day must had been very warm and snow very soft. On Brinica there are some steep and also a bit exposed passages, the ridge where the bivouac is, is less exposed. Mostly some steeper grassy slopes.

Cheers!

Re: info on ridge crossing

In the end we changed programs, and since it appeared there was going to be fog on lower grounds, but nice weather at some altitude, we opted for a wonderful but really exhausting hike to the Campanile di val Montanaia.
