After Peak 10
5th ascent, this time the SW ridge via Mayflower Hill. Considering the dry start to Colorado's ski season, the traverse below the NW face of Pacific was deeper than expected and very time consuming. Unconsolidated snow between talus resulted in many knee to waist deep postholes between the rocks. Luckily only one small knee bruise, as those talus traps can really beat up your legs! I felt fortunate to have avoided worse.
From Peak 10, nice and easy ridge, nice views of Tenmile Range.
I was offered a job in Seattle last month. Told my boss I could not do it. He replied, "Better title, more money, more power, you ok giving that up?" I respectfully declined. Today's solo joy on the SW ridge, and every other excellent Colorado day are the reasons why. Lots of snow and postholing, but loved it. Totally alone with superb weather. Fun easy route.
it said snow, but not quite. a beautiful, bluebird winter day on crystal. #12/100 in winter
PC Combination - traversed from Pacific, up via Mohawk Lakes and down via Spruce Creek Drainage.
Also traversed over Father Dyer.
Did with the brother in law. Also did Father D. peak and Peak 10. Perfect weather, got back to the car just as it started the rain.
Fun 2fer with Peak 10. Beautiful area. http://www.coloradoascents.blogspot.com/2015/07/crystal-peak-and-peak-10.html
East Face ski descent, snow conditions up high are good but the road is starting to get patchy making it interesting down low.
Headed over the ridge to the drainage north of Mayflower almost right away, and crossed it before it got too cliffy on the north side. Nice view of Pacific. Trip report.
Have climbed this many times . . . this is the one date recorded.
Climbed Crystal, Pacific, and Atlantic via Spruce Creek TH
Fairly expansive view from this central location. The hike was fun and relatively short.
Great day in Tenmiles, I used the Mercury skilift in Breckenridge, stashed my skis in the forest, then hiked Pk10, Crystal, Pk10 and Pk9. Awesome whole day trip with some loose rock on the north ridge of Pk10.
came over from Father Dyer as part of a loop...
Ascended to NE Ridge of Father Dyer, traversed to Crystal, over Peak 10, descended the Wheeler Trail back to the TH. (Aquaduct Road.)
Hiked SW ridge of Crystal Peak after climbing Pacific Peak West ridge from Mayflower Gulch. Nice hike, beautiful weather, great views.
Came over from Father Dyer. Nice early winter outing. Just enough snow to make it really tiring, but really fun. Nice into to what Colorado has to offer
