Cool!

Bummer about Illampu but I like your attitude. I like trips like this that are well rounded with sight seeing, climbing and hiking. Nice job Chris!!

Nice!

Chris, I enjoyed reading your TR- I'm using it to plan my trip to Bolivia next summer (unless the political unrest heats up again). Another great TR as usual- thanks for posting!

Thanks

Thanks for posting your honest and sincere trip report. It will help us make some decisions about our Bolivia climbing trip -- we leave in 3 days!

Nice Trip

I was there in 1999 on a similar trip, doing Illimani instead of Illampu, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Definately like these sightseeing/5-6 days in the mountains trips more than the multi-week gutbusters on bigger mountains (Aconcagua, Denali, etc). I'd say more folks don't go to Bolivia due to its 'backwards' reputation, but you can find all the expensive shops/restaurants/boutiques you want in the downtown area.

Sundance Kid

Why so few Americans? We don't want to wind up like Butch Cassidy.
