Re: Stunning! Beautiful!

Hello ! I answer for Your question after 2,5 months ,sorry ! ;-)

No, there are no glaciers in High Tatras nowadays but there are many eternal snowfields ("snieznik") with the greatest one in Medena Kotlina under Lomnica Peak on Slovak side( 600 m long, up to 150 m wide,5.5 ha, changeable)...

The whole High Tatra landscape is typically alpine and post-glacial, granite, sharp ridges, high vertical walls, beatiful post-glacial lakes etc.

The altitude borderline for forming glaciers in Tatra Mountains is about 2300 m asl, so it may seem that there should exist some glaciers here now, but the problem is that there are no such huge spaces for snow to accumulate itself .

Thanks for Your vote, this is a winter classic view(march) of Czarny Staw(Black Lake) surroundings above Hala Gasienicowa, very popular alpine climbing area .

Greetings from Poland
