Damselflies

Damselflies

Spotted in Henderson Bird Preserve, Nevada 2006. There are three stages in the life cycle of a damselfly: egg, naiad (the nymph of a damselfly) and adult. Males of most damselfly species are brighter-colored than females. During mating you will often see them fly in tandem.

Thank you for the compliments :) I really like your profile photo of the goats. I would love if you attached it to Wildlife of the Colorado Rockies album
Thanks, Anya.

Re: cmon!

Actually, believe it or not, it is easier to take a picture of mating damselflies ( and other mating insects) than of a single one. They are not as skittish and very 'busy".
Thanks for checking out my gallery and your votes. I look forward to visiting yours soon. I haven't seen all of your pictures yet. Cheers.

Re: Well Done!

Thank you Sam. I actually went there to photograph birds, but there were so many damselflies and dragonflies around water that I couldn't resist.

Re: not only amazing . . .

Thanks Arthur. The composition was just pure luck. They happened to land on a nice green plant while I was looking around for birds and that's the pond in the background. Cheers.
