New Parking Area is nice

December 9, 2007 -- Yonah Mountain

New Forest Service parking lot is open. Entrance is from Carpenter Road. Turn off SR 75 south of Helen at the West Family Restaurant. You can’t miss the parking lot, with its bright new yellow sign.

No parking fees. (THANK YOU, US Forest Service!) Women’s and Men’s enclosed latrines. Info board has the usual bear warning and an enlarged topo map showing the trail.

There are also latrines at the Upper LZ – which is not at the summit. Trail signs for climbing destinations: White Wall, Towers, the Boulder, and the main face.

Hike up and take the road from the Upper LZ. Trail is blazed erractically(several colors, no consistency) but it ain't that hard to figure out which way goes up.

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
