Road trip
Took my son on a 3 county high point road trip. This was the last peak of the trip. We started at poison creak and followed it up to the peak. We seen a heard of goats on the way up (I don’t think we would of seen them if my boy didn’t spot them). Hit the peak and played in the snow.

With My Son
Out on a 'weekend' of peak bagging with my son. We got 4 peaks, 3 of which are county highpoints.
Saw a small heard of goats on the way up.

North Ridge
There were a lot of hunters at Big John Flat so we decided to drive a little farther away. We followed the north ridge to Delano Peak. Saw and took photos of a herd of over fifty mountain goats along the way. It was a very windy day. The mailbox was in bad shape and will probably be carried away by the wind one of these days.

From Big John Flat (plus two other 12ers)
#1 8-8-15 w/ ZeeJay on one of the windiest days I've ever experienced. Managed to top out on East Delano and Delano Brigham Ridge Peak also. #2 6-13-15 Solo. Lower gate on FS road 123 locked. Wanted to get Mt. Belknap but had to change plans to something more reasonable from the locked gate at 8,950'. Delano was "what the mountain and UDOT would give me." :) IVD. Also need to mention that I accidentally left a small tripod on the summit. It sure would be nice to have it back. Please let me know if you have found it. Thanks.

Amazing area. It was wet and muddy and there were big gray coulds all around us. You could see where all the animals had been tromping in the meadows. It felt like a huge grassy hill on top. When we were on top, Greg looked at me and said, "Um, your hair is standing straight up." We ran as fast as we could off the top.

Poison Creek
We made the summit in between monsoon showers. Clouds parted briefly to allow views of Belknap. It is a beautiful area.

My daughters first big mountain climb. We loved seeing all the mountain goats. I have never seen so many and so close. Great climb and awesome views.

Big John Flat
Camped at Big John Flat, walked up the road for about a mile (was still closed past the camping area) and started walking up the ridge. What a beautiful and undiscovered area. After summiting, spent some time exploring the gorgeous meadows and saw a ton of mountain goats.

Goats
Scared 3 goats within 10 yards after cresting the summit. Followed them trying to get a good picture and saw another 38 grazing on the saddle just to the east of the summit. They backed off a bit at first, but when they realized I wasn't going to chase them they just grazed and let me watch for my summit break.

Mounatin goats everywhere!
We hiked up from the nearby ski area and saw well over 50 mountain goats as we hiked across the treeless terrain towards the peak. The aspen were also in full color-changing mode which created a wonderful backdrop!

From Griffith Creek
We camped below the mountain by Griffith Creek. The meadows were full of gorgeous wildflowers. The weather was stormy on the first day. On the second day, we had a nice encounter with White Mountain Goats and made the summit as well. Great trip!

route climbed: via trail from Puffer lake and the up south face (2 times)
I climbed this with Dave Frey and seven 14 to 15 year-old boy scouts including Derek Muaina, David Cowan, Nick Reed, Doug Bowman, Mike Workman, David Mounteer, and Joey Moore. We also climbed Mount Holly (11,999 feet) the same day and Dave Frey and I bagged Lake Peak the next morning. We were completing the 3 peaks hike as part of the Beaver High Adventure Base (BAHB). On July 17, 2001 I bagged the same three peaks again - same BHAB program, different hiking companions.

Very quick ascent, a little cool and windy at the top. SPanking new register in a fresh mailbox mounted on a new 4x4 post into the summit cairn. I hope it survives the winter! THe door to the mailbox at least may need some additional fixing to stay shut... Only a handful of goats visible, and I only really took in the views to the North/East/South. West was wiiinnndy and cold.
