Great hike with great view and plenty of steep sections.
We took the Nippletop Slide and looped over to Dial. Conditions were sub-optimal to say the least. This made for a tricky, and at points, scary ascent of the Nippletop Slide, as it was icy enough for need an ax, but the ice was not thick enough to get a good bite with the axes. Still, we made it without incident and had a fantastic weekend!
Hiked up Lake Road and took the Gill Brook trail, summited Nippletop Mt first, then Dial Mt and Bear Den on my way down. Great day to be out, lots of people on the trail too. Great views from Dial Mt, especially of the Great Range.
Had lunch with a bear on Nippletop.
Hiked Dial Mountain 4020' starting from the Lake Road Trail. Weather was clear but a storm moved in quickly and continued throughout the day. We started around 8am and finished around 3pm. It was a long haul but an enjoyable one.
A great hike that was made interesting when I had to carry a friend down Dial on my back! Totally worth it!
My 19th 46er a looong time ago with a childhood friend
Passed through heading up Nippletop. One of my now favorite loops in the ADK!
Hit up Dial on the way to Nippletop. Cold and clear.
Completed Dial and Nippletop making the loop with Elk Pass. After a great range traverse the previous weekend, this one seemed like a piece of cake! Nice views and good company made for a wonderful day despite overcast skies.
With Paul Hughes, went over a bunch. Camped at the washbowl.
Hiked up enroute to Nippletop. Nice spot to stop for some views and a snack.
Clear Day, Tons of Bugs, and from what I remember lots of ups and downs ....
I thought that Dial was better than the write-ups on it.I took some amazing photos of the lower great range from this lookout.
Hiked from Nippletop a long time ago.
Dial along with Bear Den and Nippletop make for an excellent outing
Did this loop solo on a beautiful day. High Peak #7.
Climbed with Nippletop via the H.G. Leach Trail from the Ausable Club. There were raspberry bushes along most of the trail, especially around the west shoulder of Noonmark. The summit provided suprisingly good views and we had most of the hike to ourselves.
Beautiful day in the high peaks. Clear, cool, breezy, and not a black fly to be seen. The Leach trail was in great shape. Still a few patches of snow in the woods near the top.
Headed to Dial from Nippletop. Neat views from the shoulder of Noonmark. This was the last of the High Peaks in St. Huberts we needed to complete, yay! Neat peak! 17/46
