A good, consistently-graded trail to a summit with nice views of the neighboring prominent west-side peaks, e.g. White Chuck, Pugh, Whitehorse, Three Fingers, Sloan.
Wildfire smoke made for an eerie hazy day in the Cascades.
Snow-free all the way to the waterfall. Shortly thereafter snow took over the trail. Followed the winter route which was pretty easy to identify with all the footprints.
Got fooled several times by the false summits. The slushy snow made for slow going when it came to kicking in solid steps. It was a slog but worth it. Weather was not the greatest, started sleeting on the way down. But the views were still remarkable.
Definitely recommend microspikes, trekking poles, ice axe.
Beautiful scenery, bit of a slog on the way up with lots of elevation gain. But a solid trail all the way up. The views from the top make it all worth it.
After work hike.
Hiked up in the dark and reached the summit just before sunrise. It was amazing, totally worth it! Trip report here.
First time up, 2:25 to the top. Spent an hour up top enjoying the incredible views on a beautiful spring day!
Bluebird day with the last 3rd of the climb on snow.
Beautiful day and a great climb up to fantastic views. Great look at Glacier Peak to the east. Lots of snow.
We had a beautiful day and a trail was already blasted out through the snow
02/15/15 Hiked up and spent the night on the summit. Sunset and Sunrise were incredible
Views are great after the switchbacks. Frequent slides on Big Four were fun to see and hear in the distance. Snow bridges over the creek and other runoffs were becoming very iffy in the afternoon. Fun glissades
Last summer. Lots of switchbacks through forest. Couldn't see much due to smoky skies, but loved every moment of the hike.
A good day to carry most of my winter gear and use none of it! Great vista!
One of my favorites off of mountain loop hwy.
Perhaps it was the company, but this was one of my favorites of this year. We watched the first flakes fall on the lower half of the trail, summited with about 1 foot of snow, and descended in the dark after a late (1:30PM) start. Watched the sunset, and soaked in the views of Del Campo, Three Fingers, Vesper, Sperry, etc. etc.
Good early season conditioner
One of several trips up this scenic trail - I think the first one was in '91.
Beautiful Day, great hike with lots of elev. gain
hiked a handful of times. wonderful hike, good views of glacier, sloan, whitechuck.
