Great excursion
I got to Chapultenango from Villahermosa in the morning and from there someone drove me to colonia El Viejo volcan, which a just a couple of houses for 150 pesos. I asked around for a guide here to take me to the crater, he wanted 250 but we agreed on 200 pesos. It took us two hours to reach the crater rim. I hiked down into the crater by myself. The water was very green and warm, lots of vapor in one part. Since there were no cars around I walked all the way back from colonia El Viejo to Chapultenango in 1,5 h. I spend the night there, some lady was renting rooms for the night. I liked the village, you can still here the Zoque language being spoken here. Friendly people. So glad I finally made it to Chichonal!
