Hiked with people from my grad program in September 2015. Was mesmerized by the view and got a lot more into peakbagging after this one.
Solo from the standard trailhead. Found this to be my easiest OGUL so far, but with a pretty incredible view of Tahoe from the west. Not super crowded, pretty windy day.
Hot day, wanted to get down and swim in the lake!
Jogged Ellis Peak, and also did Peak 8514, Barker Peak, and Peak 8652
Weekend summer day, just a few other couples. Great short hike and incredible views.
Intended to attempt both Twin Peak and Ellis, but Barker Pass Road was closed all the way down at the Sno Park, so decided to hike up the road to the pass, then through lots of snow over to Ellis Peak. The thought of backtracking to the pass and taking the road 7 miles out was enough to get us to go cross country on descent, although we still logged over 17 miles on the day. Trip report is HERE
Day hiked while at a conference at Lake Tahoe.
Started from Barker Pass. I recommend it for the great view of Lake Tahoe from the top.
Ellis Peak in the morning, Twin Peaks in the afternoon
With Tahoecedar. Perfect weather, great views of Desolation and the lake.
Early season (mostly) snow hike from Barker Pass
Pics and commentary are here.
Long slog from Sno Park on highway 89. Great views of Lake Tahoe.
