2nd time up, first time with Shannon - thanks for a great hike! Last part is steep but makes the summit that much more rewarding.
My first summit on snowshoes. Actually had to take them off to tackle the rocky bits at the top. Lost track of the actual trail from Storm's Pass, so it was probably harder than it should have been.
Wife and I.
A fun and challenging hike, the most surprising part was being chased from the final scramble by a sudden storm. Just 30 feet from the summit, hail and lightning dropped down from Longs and we sprinted to safety at Storm Pass.
Hiked up Estes Cone from the Longs Peak Trailhead with my brother. Nice hike with a side trip to the Eugenia Mine site.
Hiked up from Lily Lake. Beautiful, but a bit breezy on the summit. Hiked this a number of years ago with my brother.
I climbed this way back in 1991.
I took my 7 year old son for a week of camping at the "Park" and we decided to try this mountain out. It was a spectacular morning of hiking. We summitted early and had the top to ourselves. It will always be a great memory for me, being there with him. We both loved the small outcropping climb at the top.
Final peak of the radical slam. It took just over 12h to reach peak #7, but we made it. The summit is a craggy out cropping, neat finish, but the trail is steep and in poor shape at the top.
This was my first real summit ever. Woohoo! It's not K2, but you gotta start somewhere. It was a nice walk up. There were a few other ppl on the trail, and it rained at the top. Not much view. The scramble at the top was probably the most fun.
My wife and I climbed this on a nice clear sunny day in May. Unfortunately the sunny weather resulted in some wet deep snow. We made the summit but by the time we got back to the car our feet were soaked and swimming inside our boots.
Nice lower summit.
The first time was with my brother in 2005, but I have been back five times, usually with first time hikers. Nice hike to introduce people to the park and hiking in general.
wirth it for the views
Hard to climb down because the view of the front side of RMNP is spectacular from up here. The little pick-and-choose "scramble" to the top is a blast, too.
on Longs Peak.
A before-daylight start allowed us to get great pictures of sun-hit on Longs.
Used N trail in '04
Had already hiked 7 miles and had two and a half hours to climb. The last .7 miles is steep and Estes Cone has a fun summit block. Leave more then two and a half hours to climb or you will end up running it.
