Climbed with my wife on Veteran's Day. A great view and some nice trails around Colonel Denning State Park.
Hiked this trail a few times over the years. Always fun.
My girlfriend and I live in the heart of Philadelphia. We work long hours and were desperate for a weekend trip away from all of the clutter and hustle and bustle...
We arrived at the parking lot at 4:30pm. Recent snow storms had deposited about 25 inches of snow so it was a tough slog to the summit. We arrived at the summit around 6pm at set up camp. It was so peaceful and scenic. Seeing the lights from the top while in my sleeping bag was like reuniting with an old friend. It had been a while since I had been on a nice hike...
Great place! Thank you Mtwashingtonmonroe for the excellent page. I would have never discovered the mountain otherwise.
Another good view hidden in the mountains of PA. Added a few more miles to the hike after Flat Rock by going north on the Tuscarora Trail, then followed the Lehman Trail back to the Lehman/Flat Rock/Tuscarora junction.
Easier than reported on here. Just a standard class one hike through the woods. A few moderately steep sections but quite tame overall.
I did this one with my whole family and my old dog Tommy.
Nice hike. Fairly steep trail. Wonderful views from Flat Rock! Fun scrambling!
A fun night climb with really nice views of the PA valley floor. Another testament to the fact that hiking at night is underrated. It would have been a little nicer had it not been raining - oh well all in all a great time!!!
a little rain, a bit of wind and darkness- all in all, a great night! About 3 hours round trip: 9:00pm to 12:05am. A little over 6 miles rt (with some back tracking and almost getting lost). Routefinding is more strait forward than we made it. Beautiful views!
Would do this one again!
Spectactular view. Biggest one I've seen so far. Lots of fun. Most beautiful day. Best hike so far in the snow.
Beautiful hike through the snow. Some spots were pretty steep and the views from Flat Rock were very impressive. Great place!
