Hiked with Tommey. This peak turned out to be incredibly easy using the directions on this page. The trail is in excellent condition and the crosscountry is easy. This is in contrast to the Chetwood Cabin trail that most seem to use which is hard to follow and suffers many fallen trees. 6:15 to the summit with breaks. Pictures
Story Album: https://goo.gl/photos/t8RvRuAgMpF6AEuY8 Ascended the northwest slope as part of a long dayhike.
Long dayhike up Long Canyon, mostly x-country once past Chetwood Cabin on the way out, with visits to the east shoulder of Sadler Peak, the tarns just east of Long Mountain, down to Rockbound Lake, over to Blue Lakes, and up into the clouds on the southeast slopes to the summit of Foerster Peak. Fun despite all the clouds obscuring views into southeastern Yosemite and Ritter areas. Found the use trail more of the way back, but managed to lose it in the dark before eventually coming across the major trails. Signage is limited once much into the wilderness. I may be back to the area for more views on a sunny day.
From Blue Lake Pass (High Route). Good class 3 most of the way, if you stay on the ridge.
Up from Blue Lake to Foerster, along with a handful of other peaks in the area the same day. Very enjoyable outing, Blue Lake is incredibly scenic, as is the Lyell Fork north of the summit.
Dayhike from the Isberg Pass TH. Trip Report
Overnighter to bag Foerster, Electra and Davis. Took about 7.5h from the Isberg Pass TH. Climbed the left side of the main chute on reasonably solid rock. Then descended the north ridge and the drainage below Ansel Adams to get to Electra.
Kept to the right side of the face on the ascent, finding mostly solid, easy, and enjoyable class 2-3 scrambling; descended the chute (leftmost one on the face when viewed from Foerster Creek) leading almost straight down from the summit, finding it loose and a poor choice. Outstanding views of the Clark and Ritter Ranges, and wonderful weather.
A shorter approach than expected, something like 6.5-7 hrs to the summit from the Isberg Pass TH. Traversed over to Isberg Peak on the way back. Enjoyable dayhike--surprisingly, it turned out to be the easiest of the Rodgers/Electra/Foerster triumvarate to climb in a day.
