Re: Saving wildlifeYES it is, Mark! A lot of people feel
the same way you do. This bear was
rescued in California, somewhere between
Truckee and Reno, Nevada. Thanks for
your comment!

Re: Neat photoGreetings! Great smile on your profile page!
The bear??? This photo comes courtesy of one of the 'animal control' agents living in Truckee, California. The bear was STUCK beneath the upper pilings of Rainbow Bridge, a man-made structure along the interstate highway between Truckee and Reno, Nevada. It had to be put to sleep, so they could lower it approximately 80 feet to the ground from the span of the bridge. They used a net.(You can see part of the net to the left.)This is what the bear looked like when it realized it was safe and sound at 'ground level' once again. It was an amazing rescue!
Was all over in the newspapers last year; even CNN had it covered. This is one lucky bear!!! Thanks for your interest and take care - Larry in the Desert :)

Deprived of NetThanks Larry for demonstrating that a net can be used to free us instead of trapping us!
Cheers

Re: Deprived of NetYou're correct as usual, my friend!!
A net can be a positive; as well as negative.
Have you ever been to a circus? Nets are used
by circus performers to help save their lives.
People and animals - almost the same !!! :)))

Re: if you...Since i have just finished my tip to Colorado- nothing much. Instead of camping at Mount Rogers this year, we plan on going Rafting in West Virginia.
Next year though, we are planning to go to Poland- and do some tough scrambling there. Mabye some climbing- my uncle is a climber.
What about you?

Re: if you...I just got a new camera, so I'll have to try
that puppy out. Being that the desert will
be cooling off in a couple more months, I'll
probably do some more "desert" stuff.
