Now?

Is this from right now? I didn't think it had been cold enough for long enough, but if that's what it's like, I need to get my tail out there next weekend!

A few years ago

Wait until the middle of January. Some years that works; some years it just doesn't get cold enough. We need about a week or so without it getting much above freezing.

Re: A few years ago

I figured that wasn't from now-- too bad, though. I've had luck there a few times in February, including this past one. I wonder if your shot was from 2007; I remember the falls in Cedar Run and Whiteoak being seriously iced over when I went that year-- totally spectacular.

Re: A few years ago

Probably more like 1997. I may have some shots from 2007 also. The best shots are when it snows first and then the falls freeze; you want snow on the ground, but not on the frozen falls.
