Nice and easy
The hike started at Juvasshytta in a small team with a guide. It is an easy hike but you have to be careful. It is a 6km walk and 600m vertical. We had all types of weather during this hike ( from sunny... to snowfall ). At the summit the sunny part of weather alloewd us to have the nice 360 view to Norwagian mountains.
On a guided tour. Non-technical hiking. But requierd some walking over a glacier connected to each other.

The south route
Climbed it the more difficult route from the southern side of the mountain with a guide. We hiked through a icefall and a big glacier. Then we climbed up the south face. It was firstly easy rockclimbing with medium exposure. Secondly we hiked up a 35 degree snowslope before an easy hike to the summit.

Less than 24 hours after arriving in Norway
Only the day before did I fly from northern Sweden to southern Norway, and thanks to a most conveniently scheduled bus connection I wasted no time to get to Jotunheimen. After a spell of rain (and snow high up in the mountains) this was the first day of a good weather period, and I made the most of it by traversing Galdhøpiggen. I made my way up from Juvashutte, then descended to Spiterstulen.

Galdhopiggen
Today my dad and I climbed Galdhopiggen from Juvashytta. We took this route since the guidebook said that it was more pleasant and scenic. From Lom, we rode the bus to the trailhead and since we didn't carry crevasse rescue gear on this trip, signed up at the lodge to join a group to cross the glacier. Safety wise, this was a wise move as the Styggebrean Glacier does indeed have hidden crevasses, but since it was on a weekend and since the weather was completely clear, it was crowded!
Once we were off the glacier, we unroped and scrambled to the summit. The views were really spectacular and we couldn't ask for a better day. It actually felt hot at 2469 meters/8100 feet in Norway!
After enjoying the summit, we climbed back down to the glacier and joined a roped team. One girl, maybe 10 years old or so was afraid to jump the crevasses and wanted us to stop. Because it was so hot, we actually had to wade through knee deep water and slush on the glacier so everyone got very wet!
It was a great climb and after completing the climb we rode the bus back to our campground at Lom.
From Juvashytta to the summit through the Styggebraen route. We're part of a proyect with blind mountainners, 22 alpinist, 5 of them totally blind. We all succesfully climb it to the top. 11 hours rounded route.

Via Stygebreen glacier to Spiterstulen
We started from Juvashytta up to the summit via the glacier, down to Spiterstulen.
Beautiful, a bit too cloudy that day though.
Attempted the normal route but due to the fog and snow conditions turned around about 200m shy of the summit

From Spiterstulen August 2013
Climbed this high point with a group of friends on August 18, 2013. Low visibility (50M) restricted view above 2,000M (seems to be common). However, the views on the glacier to be crossed from the Juvashytte route were spectacular when visibility cleared for short moments. The low visibility didn't seem to stop many people from climbing Galdhoppigen though.
The Spiterstulen route requires no technical equipment or skills. However, be aware that the rocks near the top can be very slippery. A good sole is a must (I used worn-out shoes, which was a little problematic due to lack of grip and water resistance). The climb itself is relatively constant, but remember that the galdhoppigen has a small structure on top (we thought we reached the top initially, but it appeared to be the Keilhaus topp).

Spiterstulen
Tried to climb Galdhpiggen from Spiterstulen but I didn't have luck with the weather and due to thick fog and strong wind I lost the path and after a short wandering around decided to go back to the refuge. Hope to have a better luck next time.

SW ridge, traversing Ymmelstinden and Storjuvtinden
Early summer season climb! Approached through Svellnosbrean glacier and put tents up just under the ridge. Nice ridge climbing requires some rappels and III+ rock climbing sections. But nothing too difficult. One of the best routes up to the highest mountain in Northern Europe.

No real experience required. It is a long plod with an easy scramble. Fitness, warm clothes, and food are the only things you need in summer. It is SO worth it, breathtaking views of gigantic glaciers, distant mountains all from the highest mountain in Scandinavia :) Began in sunny conditions, but summitted in a blizzard as weather changed, adding to the thrill. Jogged down the mountain to Spiterstulen for 9pm (late start I know), relaxed with a glass of wine and cards in the log cabin by a fire. What could be more perfect? 10/10.
1st time from Spiterstulen, 2nd time via Styggebreen the following year.

From Spiterstulen
It was suppose to rain so we hurried up the mountain and reached the summit in 3,5 hour. Our reward was a 360 degree panorama view! Lovely! But later when we got back to Spiterstulen it started to rain...and it never stopped, so we went home to Sweden.

Using a rope on the glacier is of course mandatory, some crevasses.
