Genesee Mountain
September 25 2023
I had to go to Lakewood to get some vehicle service after work so on the way back I did the (fairly short) hike to the top of Genesee Mountain.
July 26 2023
I had to go to Lakewood for some vehicle maintenance so on the way back I climbed Genesee Mountain. It was an easy hike as summits go and on a pleasant trail. The forest was nice and I saw some squirrels as well.

All the Genesee Park Trails :)
Ran most all of the Genesee Park Trails and finished up on top of here after viewing the Bison just down below the summit on the American Bison Trail. Met up on top with Brit and J who were hiking with the Young Men/Young Women groups.

Genesee Winter Sunset
To cap off our day around Golden, we decided to hike up Genesee Mountain. The gate was closed so we hiked on the snow up the peak on the road then down the trail. The sunset views down south to Pikes Peak were superb.

Birthday hike
Actually not my birthday, but my son's. I remembered we used to come up here with small snowboards and sleds and play all day long during the winter months.
Not now, the snow is gone but the memories are kept alive. Can't wait to hike these nice trails with my kids again.
Great views from the summit. I hiked up with Daniela. Very windy at the top.
We found thousands of ladybugs roaming near the summit.

From winter gate
This was a cool little summit and I was quite surprised by how deep the snow was. A fresh few inches of snow made this a nice outing. Unfortunately, there were some shady characters roaming the area - I had a dog and my piece with in my pocket, but I hate feeling creeped out when I'm just trying to enjoy the mountains!

winter "hike"
scooted up geneee mountian as a side trip on the way out to chief and warrior. snow on the baseball fields was knee-deep in portions, a total surprise for a warm, sunny area at 8000 feet with no real accumulation recently!

Multiple TripsThere are some great views of the divide from here. It's an nice place to take out of town guests for a lazy afternoon.
