Grand Teton on the 4th Try

Grand Teton on the 4th Try

Me posing with Lou and Frank Florence on the summit of the Grand Teton. It took Lou 4 attempts to get on the summit due to his amazing ability for scheduling his trips to coincide with the first major snow event of the season. Lou was a member of the "Greatest Generation" and served as an Army Ranger in WWII (D-Day) where he first learned to climb. Lou, along with his son Frank co-founded Sawtooth Mountaineering in Boise, Idaho in 1972. Sawtooth Mountaineering quickly became the hub in the Boise area for technical climbing and cross country ski racing. It was a great honor for us to have had the opportunity to accompany Lou on the biggest climb of his life. (Photo by Mike Weber) Grand Teton National Park Climbing Register 8-14-76
