Scary weather
Due to the weather (monsoons), I had to change plans on my ascent. Did a TON of side-hilling on choss & scree. Hit the ridge in-between.
Took a gamble on the clouds & continued anyway. Got lucky with the thunder but still got rained & hailed on.
Saw no one all day. Short day.

Super nice climb
Cascade Divide Rd to trail start gets fairly rough the last few miles. Its slow going but passable. I never needed to engage 4x4. Route is straight forward. Significant blowdown and Avi debris about half way up. If you stay slightly right of the defined route track you can miss most of it.

Grayrock Peak
Went to bed at 1:30 a.m. after arriving in Durango from Wisconsin at midnight. Got up 6 a.m. or so. Struggled on the rough Cascade Divide Road with a sedan until I reached a muddy pothole that I did not dare to cross. Made a "Million Point" U-turn on the very narrow road and found a parking spot. By the time I started my hike, it was 8:20 a.m. Hiked 2.6 miles on the road until I reached Pando Creek. Found my own way to the top of Graysill Mountain and then Grayrock Peak at 11:40 a.m..
