Route Climbed: Stevens Gulch TH Date Climbed: 8/16/2000
Grays was my 1st fourteener. My partner and I hit the trail before day break at 6:30 and soon met several other climbers on their way down from watching the sunrise. It was hard to believe how many people were on the mountain that day, there must have been at least a hundred. Sucked air to the summit of Grays and then across the saddle to Torreys. Came off Torreys and crossed Grays above the snow field lying below the saddle. Back at the TH at 2:30. Aside from all the company on the hike, it was a great start that got me hooked on 14ers.

We joined the legions on this fine fall day, doing the standard combo...Grays first, then Torreys. Have done it several times since, and have always been entertained by the mountain goats up here.
