Kathy ...I've never been on the A.T., but I still
call myself a hiker.
"Icewater Spring Shelter" sounds like a great
place to be in the summer.
Does the Smoky Mountains section of the trail
stay open all year? Thanks, Larry

Don't know!I last hiked in this general area way back in June 1980 and we were bushwackin'. But I have seen snow-covered tent pics near the Dome so you if you're willing to hike all the way in from the main road you could do it (or "shoe it").
I had my husband take this picture as proof that I had stepped on the AT. He doesn't hike but loves me!
