I took a break from the mountains that day down in Denver and went out in the evening to stretch my legs. This hike fit the bill. Seeing Denver in twilight down below was a treat.
This was my 4th time on Green Mountain. I took the same route (more or less) as last time. We had a pretty good snowstorm last week, so the trail was still muddy in spots, and there was a little leftover snow on the north facing slopes and alcoves. It was sunny, a little breezy, cool but not too cold.
Done as a training run many times.
Nice bike ride and views!... a bit muddy.
Beautiful Thanksgiving day in Denver, nice little hike.
Fun hike close to town. Love the new snow. http://www.coloradoascents.blogspot.com/2013/11/green-mountain.html
Very pretty area...
Nice running trails. Watch out for rattlesnakes.
I've been driving past this quick & easy hike for almost 20 years on my way to other ski and climbing trips in the Front Range. Stopped off today on my way home from a day of skiing and finally did it. What a view of the city; didn't realize just how expansive Denver is.
I was supposed to meet some other hikers at the Florida trailhead, but they never showed. So I took the Green Mountain Trail to the summit, then took the Hayden Trail back to the trailhead. The trail was muddy in spot thanks to last Saturday's snowstorm, but it was mostly fine. It was a nice day, sunny and a little windy. Quite a few bikers and hikers up there.
Up twice, once in the summer once on skis in the winter.
Nice area for trail running and easy mountain biking. Been out here many times.
Hiked, Biked, Ran. Great peak for getting some elevation when short on time from the Denver area.
This is a trail run or mountain bike ride with several route options
Daniela and I got back to Green Mountain. Being just 10 minutes away from home it's the best place for us to go for a walk in the afternoon hours.
We had the best sunsets and views of Denver from up there.
Nice views of Denver and surroundings. Daniela and I hiked for a while up on the very well maintained trails. We had an awesome sunset. We're so happy we found this place just 10 minutes away from home. We'll be back soon.
I've done this several times, primarily as part of the "triathalon" with the hogback and Mt. Morrison. It's a good spot to get views of metro Denver.
Frustrated on summiting Colorado Mines and missing out of Flora, AGAIN, due to weather, AGAIN, I headed up Green Mountain to burn off some excess energy. I was not disappointed! This is a beautiful and singular mountain and reminded me quite a bit of the south Bay Area. Nice views, good hike.
As an after-work hike.
Went up from the south parking areas then headed over to Mt Morrison, nice trail network here, I can see why its so popular.
