Ran up from the main trailhead at Chitauqua. Still a lot of snow, especially towards the peak.
nice walkup, but my first mountain in the USA
"Stuck" out here on a business trip, gosh-darn. First hike in CO, and 'twas a great day. Snow on 98% of the trail, firm enough except the west side of Green, which was a post-holing nightmare. Weather looked like it was going to come in and sock me, but at every potential bail-out point on my loop, it didn't get any closer. Beautiful day bottom to top.
Not Bear Peak, but nice.
Took the West Ridge Trail from Flagstaff, which is pretty much cheating as it's the shortest route with only about 640 ft gained. Great summit views, great mountain, and I will definitely do it from the bottom up sometime. There was a little more snow & ice than I had anticipated (Boulder had two snowfalls that week) but we managed. A cool hike would be Green's West Ridge to the summit of Green, then back down West Ridge a bit to Green Bear to Bear Peak West Ridge to Bear Peak summit. Maybe next time...
Beautiful hike solo at sunrise. Although a Boulder native, this was my first time up Green.
Hike with CMS.
Made a loop from Chitaqua park. Took the hound and had a great day. Way hot most all day.
My first Colorado peak. Ha!
first time up green. nice, easy day before the snowstorm moved in. whiteout conditions for a half-hour before clearing again. have summited numerous times since then.
Troy and I hiked to the top by going up Bear Creek and down Greenman (a very nice loop). We had to start and finish at the corner of 28th and Baseline (no car), which added some miles. 7 hrs for the loop, including stops.
Easy stroll up the backside to some great views of the Indian Peaks, Boulder, etc.
Good 4-hour training hike, 10.5 mile loop:
NCAR Mesa TR - Mesa TR - Bear Canyon TR - Green Bear TR - SUMMIT - E.M. Greenman TR - Ranger TR - Long Canyon TR - Gregory Canyon TR - Baseline TR - Mesa TR - NCAR TR.
40 minutes, 12 seconds. My personal record for accent time. 73 degrees in February!
Easy route. Best advice is to bring bug repellent, especially in the morning.
Did this is a midnight hike, so I couldn't tell it wasn't light out this time (since I still wasn't born).
sweet little backyard climb! i like it
upper 1/2 of trail with snow. a bit slippery coming down. Great hike and beautiful sunny weather.
Nice morning hike with good views of the Boulder area. Something tells me Shadow Rock is the least scenic way to summit the mountain.
