Re: I haveThank you. Its the blossom of a thistle, its botanic name is Carlina acaulis. It blossoms very late in the year, from mid september through october on the meadows of the northern limestone mountains of Germany and Austria, maybe Switzerland, too.

Re: I haveI saw a dead variety around the Matterhorn and thought it was beautiful. I thought it was a thistle family. You have some great alpine flower photos.
