normal route
Normal route done from Adlersruhe, in just 2hrs, summit reached at 7.40, unfortunately under severe thunderstorms during the way down, not a pleasant situation.
Climbed the Grossglockner from the Adlersruhe over the Glocknerleitl.

Stüdlgrat, ein Wahnsinns-Herbsttag!!!

Stüdlgrat in winter
Better conditions than in summer and no people.
My 2nd ascent via Stüdlgrat and the 4th time summiting Grossglockner on a different route.

Perfect October day
Soloed with my friends Ludwig and Marie. Great weather on summit day. The next morning woke to a blizzard at the middle hut along the normal route. We camped 3 in a 2 man tent with howling winds. Not a peaceful night.

Stuedlgrat
Very good conditions, in a second sunny day after some heavy snow. Team of 2+2. No crowd on the route. Frühstückplatz reached after 3.5h, summit 8h later. Perfect view on the top.

Stüdlgrat
My very first "big climb", thanks to Matej for organisation and together with Marketa and Adam for company :) Studlgrat was a bit foggy but sunny at the top, the ascend was fast and easy. Descended by the Normal route in the company of huge crowd :/

Crowded ...
Normal route from the Stueldhütte. Perfect weather - which meant A LOT of people on the route. I think I counted more than 150, most of them however climbing Stuedlgrat. Nice ridge climb to the summit. My climbing partner got scared just before Kl.Glocker but a nice Austrian sole climber (Mathias, thank you) joined our rope on the last part.

Lonely at the top
Only 30-something other climbers at the usually jam-packed Erzherzog Johann hut. The next morning, we were the first party to summit and held Austria's top exclusively for 10 minutes.

normal route
Start from StudleHutte 4.40 Summit - 7.20 Come back to the Hutte 9.30. Good weather -sunny, not wind, not cold.
Climbed with Wilco and a local guide from Kals. This is the first alpine route that I have climbed twice now, as I climbed it before back in 2006. From what I remember of that climb, the Stüdlgrat had much less cables back then.
Nevertheless, this time it was made slightly more difficult by that little bit of fresh snow that had come down the previous evening. It wasn't much, but it sure made those small ledges trickier. At the start of the climb, the weather was fine, but during the last hour to the summit, it quickly deteriorated. No views anymore.
We descended the normal route, and after a rest at the Erzherzog Johann Hütte, we continued to the Salm Hütte. All in all, it was a very long day - and the best one I had that whole week!
